Thanks to a pilot grant from King County's Veterans, Seniors and Human Services Levy, our Village is partnering with Vashon Care Network to build and sustain the caregiver workforce on Vashon. Like the nation and Washington State, King County faces a significant caregiver shortage, particularly in rural communities like ours. This pilot strengthens the ability of elders to age in the communities they know and trust by building a paid caregiver workforce that reflects our community.

Two September events highlight this work on Vashon. Both are part of the annual Christine Jovanovich Memorial Seminar Weekend:

Saturday, September 12, 10:30am - 12:30pm: Caregiver Resource Fair, dedicated to caregivers. Take time for yourself, connect with others, and discover local resources and support for you and your clients.

Sunday, September 13, 2pm - 3pm: Brain Matters with guest speaker Allyson Schier, a leading voice in dementia care.
